Chelsea FC Blenheim Elite 7 v 3 Tottenham Hotspur
PoM: Mia
Chelsea FC Blenheim Elite produced a thrilling, high-scoring performance to overcome Premier Division rivals Tottenham Hotspur and book their place in the last 16 of the National Football Youth League Cup. Having suffered heartbreak at the semi-final stage last season, the Blenheim side started with clear intent. Within just 4 minutes, they were ahead. Mia D picked up the ball in a dangerous pocket, slipping in Alice B, who unselfishly squared to Holly C for her 4th goal in 4 games. Midway through the first half, the hosts doubled their lead; Ava L-W earned a penalty after an aggressive 1v1, and Mia D slotted it home confidently. Moments later, Mia D scored again with a superb volley from a Chloe F corner — showing leadership and technical class. Tottenham pulled one back via a penalty, but Chelsea’s response was instant. A brilliant pass from Ava L-W found Dani D, who assisted Alice B for a calm finish to restore the three-goal cushion at 4–1.
Chelsea continued their dominance with slick build-up play and clever set pieces. A well- rehearsed corner on 65 minutes saw Lola R score her first of the season from a Mia D delivery.
Soon after, a dangerous run and cross from Ava L-W led to an own goal, stretching the lead to 6–1. However, Tottenham weren’t finished; two quick goals, capitalizing on errors and fast
transitions made it 6–3, creating late tension. A superb save by Emilie E was unlucky to deflect in, despite Lola R’s recovery efforts. With just 2 minutes remaining, Florence G calmly slotted home her first goal for the side to make it 7–3, ending the contest with authority.
With this emphatic win, Chelsea FC Blenheim Elite advance to the Last 16, brimming with confidence and determined to go further than last season's semi-final exit.
Coaches Voice - Harry Baker
“Delighted with another strong performance in this competition, it was fantastic to see so many things that were worked on in the build up to the game be displayed. Couldn't be more proud to have not only 1 but 2 teams in the national football youth league cup round of 16.”
