Chelsea FC Blenheim Academy 9 v 0 Oxford Procision
PoM Avery T
Both teams came into this fixture having secured promotion last season, with Procision being the only side Chelsea FC Blenheim Academy failed to beat so a competitive clash was expected.
But Chelsea started in electric form, taking just 12 minutes to open the scoring. Florence G fired home under pressure at the back post after a well-delivered cross from the right by Ines J. Just two minutes later, Ines turned from provider to scorer. Pouncing on a loose ball, she struck confidently from the edge of the box to double the lead.
The fast start continued when Millie HF broke through the Procision back line and finished calmly to make it 3–0 inside 20 minutes. Procision’s first real chance came in the 25th minute, but Annabelle C showed bravery and sharp reflexes to tip the ball over the bar and preserve the clean sheet.
In the second half, the introduction of Avery T after 55 minutes proved to be a game-changing moment. With her first touch, Avery arrived at the back post to score, setting the tone for a remarkable 35-minute performance. Just two minutes later, Hanna H added her name to the scoresheet with a powerful strike from range that left the Procision keeper rooted to the spot.
The gaps in Procision’s defence continued to grow, and on the hour mark, Avery took full
advantage again breaking away and rounding the keeper with composure to grab her second. Then came a bizarre but brilliant moment, Avery completed her 20-minute hat-trick in the unlikeliest of ways, as a deflected header ricocheted off her head and looped over the stranded goalkeeper. There was still time for more. With 6 minutes to go, Ines J doubled her tally, reacting quickly to a loose ball from Beth E’s corner and smashing it home. Straight from kick-off, Avery wasn't finished. Gliding past three Procision defenders with dazzling footwork, she tucked the ball into the far corner her fourth goal in just over half an hour on the pitch.
Coach’s Corner – Ted Westal
"An excellent performance after a disappointing defeat last time out. All over the pitch, the players were outstanding and got exactly what they deserved."
