BLENHEIM HIGH 2 v 0 SGS SIXTH FORM
Player of the Match - Sian
On a blistering day in Leicester the Chelsea FC Blenheim side travelled north again to play in their second national final in 4 days. Having secured a place in the play offs via a strong league position the side battled through to this show piece final. SGS, who won the plate last year, were a physical and well organised side who settled into a low block, trying to stifle Chelsea FC Blenheim's now infamous passing game. The first 15 minutes were cagey, with both sides dining their feet in the heat. The first chances fell to Chelsea FC Blenheim, with the SGS goalkeeper showing her ability. The post also saved SGS! When SGS did break Sian was assured and calm in the Chelsea FC Blenheim goal.
0-0 at half time but Chelsea FC Blenheim looked the more likely to score. 10 minutes into the second half Amy P did just that, poking home at the back post after a well worked corner. 1-0, the game ebbed and flowed, with both goalkeepers showing their worth with some good saves. The second goal of the game was so good even 2 goalkeepers in the same goal would have struggled to save the ball! Mia, fresh from lifting the ESFA trophy, lifted the ball over the SGS goalkeeper into the top corner. Chelsea FC Blenheim played out the remainder of the final in full control and the final whistle bought the customary cup winner’s celebration. 2-0 and 2 national titles... WOW! #TeamBlenheim.
