Watford Ladies FC 0 Chelsea FC Blenheim Development 4
The Chelsea FC Blenheim Development team travelled to Queen’s School in Bushey, Watford, where they faced a disciplined and resilient Watford Ladies FC side. In a match that tested their patience and persistence, the team rose to the occasion, producing a commanding 4–0 victory built on possession, hard work, and relentless determination.
From the first whistle, Chelsea dominated possession, particularly excelling in the wide areas with some excellent interplay and combination play. Despite controlling the opening 45 minutes, the breakthrough proved elusive, as Watford sat deep and looked to counter with long balls over the top.
However, the first half laid a strong foundation. Beth (GK) played a key role by bravely adopting a high starting position, allowing the defensive line to push up and squeeze the pitch. Centre-backs Evalyn and Lucie were rock-solid, forming a strong partnership, while Matilda and Grace defended with aggression and surged forward effectively on the flanks. In midfield, Maddie was a commanding presence, breaking up attacks and shielding the back line, with Scarlett and Evie offering further stability and control in the middle of the park.
Coaches Voice - Luke Petri
"This was a good league victory built on technical ability and graft. We will need to maintain this level, as we face Watford Ladies FC again next week, at the same venue, in the cup."
